Victor Fernandez Lopez
Especially in hardcore jumping conditions, Victor Fernandez is quite possibly one of the most radical young windsurfers in the world. Victor has already been participating in the PWA World Tour for 8 years. He discovered his passion for windsurfing when his father taught him to surf at the age of 5. Victor is very ambitious and constantly tries to improve his level.
Philip Köster
In spite of his age of 16, Philip Köster has already been a professional windsurfer for 2 years and has reached the top of the pro world in a very short time. Although he has a German passport, he was born and raised in Gran Canaria. Philip is considered to be one of the biggest windsurf talents; Björn Dunkerbeck praises, “Philip has the potential to become a world champion.”
Ricardo Campello
Ricardo Campello was born in Brazil, but now lives in Venezuela. Ricardo wants to be the first professional windsurfer to complete the “triple loop.” His sponsors, JP Australia and NeilPryde, have already offered him US$10,000 if he pulls it off successfully. And Ricardo is very motivated; he knows that the “impossible”… is possible.
Dario Ojeda
Dario Ojeda began windsurfing when he was 11 and quickly got into the sport. He became known as one of the best windsurfers because of his talent and very radical surf style. Dario always tries to take windsurfing to the limit. When he doesn’t participate in competitions, he travels around filming and searching for new spots to windsurf.
Marcilio Browne
Marcilio Browne, nicknamed “Brawzinho,” is one of the worlds best and most talented windsurfers. His father and uncle are former Brazilian windsurfing champions, and so the young Brazilian started windsurfing when he was only 4 years old. Brawzinho‘s personal ambitions are to improve himself constantly, to make good friends around the world, and to learn different languages and cultures during his travels.
Robby Swift
Robby Swift was taught to windsurf at an early age. His father, who is a huge windsurfing fan, supported him a lot to become a professional windsurfer. Robby currently lives in Maui, Hawaii, where he spends the most of his time when training. His main ambitions are to “live life to the full,” win a world title, and inspire a lot of kids to get into a sport they love.
Marcos Perez
The Gran Canarian windsurf legend Marcos Pérez started windsurfing in the 1990s. His wide experience and his extraordinary skills make him one of the best windsurfers in the world. Marcos is very active on the local Gran Canarian windsurfing scene, is the organizer of a competition in Vargas, and supports local young talents.
Daniel Bruch
Daniel Bruch was born in Germany, but has been living on Tenerife for more than 20 years. At the age of only 16 years, “Dany” was considered to be one of the most talented newcomers in the sport and soon got a professional contract. After some time off, he returned to the sport in the 2005 Windsurf World Cup. Dany has a very powerful style and is one of those who jump to the ”highest floors.”
Kauli Seadi
Kauli Seadi is a very ambitious windsurfer who concentrates his attention on the disciplines of wave and freestyle. He always tries to boost his performance and to develop new maneuvers. For the three-time world champion, “Windsurfing has that feeling of when you get a very good day, you feel like nothing can ever make you upset, everything feels perfect!”
Klaas Voget
Klaas Voget grew up close to the North Sea in Aurich, Germany, where his family owned a small house near the sea. After finishing school, Klaas went to the island of Norderney, where he got into wave sailing. Klaas travels a lot around the globe, always in quest of finding uncharted coastlines to surf, but his favorite spot is still here in Klitmøller.
Alex Mussolini
Alex Mussolini started windsurfing when he was 8. To improve his windsurf skills and to develop a personal style, he went to Maui, Hawaii, for two years when he was 14. Now, Alex is one of the top windsurf pros and an excellent wave rider. But he is not just hooked on windsurfing, he has also a lot of other interests like rock climbing, skiing, and snowboarding.
Jonas Ceballos
Supervised by his father, Jonas Ceballos learned to surf when he was 10 years old. Soon he developed a passion for windsurfing and went nearly every day to practice and improve his performance. Jonas’ favorite surfing spots are Pozo Icquierdo, Fuerteventura, and Ireland. He also enjoys pursuing other sports like mountain biking, kite boarding, and wake boarding.
Thomas Traversa
The French windsurfer Thomas Traversa specializes in the disciplines of wave and freestyle. At an early age of 24 he had already traveled a lot around the world and gained various experiences in windsurfing. Thomas ranks among the best windsurfers and is always a tough competitor. But windsurfing is not the only talent of the young French; he’s also been studying at the musical facility of Etudes de Musique au Conservatoir, but now has decided on pursuing a career as a pro windsurfer.
Ross Wiliams
Ross Williams is a professional windsurfer from the Isle of Wight, a great surfing spot in England. Under specific conditions, his father taught him how to windsurf at an early age. When he finished school, Ross decided to start a career as windsurfer and succeeded. Today Ross lives in Argentina with his Argentinean girlfriend, but he also appreciates close contacts with his friends in Britain.
John Skye
John Skye started windsurfing at the age of 13. It soon turned out that he had the talent and the ambition to become a pro. John spent as much time as possible on the coast and learned how to wave sail. He has established himself as one of Britain’s best windsurfers ever, and he is still among the top World Cup windsurfers.
Ben Proffitt
Ben Proffitt began windsurfing at the age of 9 and had already become a professional when he was 13. Having started with racing, Ben decided to move on to wave and freestyle sailing. His primary goal is to keep improving his sailing and spend as much time as possible on the water.
Aleix Sanllehy
Aleix Sanllehy has participated in windsurf competitions since he was 11 years old and had his PWA debut in 2003. He often practices with his older brother Eric, who is also a professional windsurfer. Aleix is very sports-minded and he also likes, for example, biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, hockey, and swimming.
Kevin Pritchard
Kevin Pritchard can look back on a long career. He started participating in professional windsurf competitions in the 1990s and achieved several successes. Meanwhile, Kevin lives on Maui, which for him means “the true luxury.” Beside his profession as a windsurfer, he built up his own company making windsurf equipment and takes surf trips in Maui.
Antxon Otaegui
Antxon Otaegui started windsurfing when he was 6 years old. His neighbor presented him with a board and a sail, and “from that point on I was hooked on windsurfing,” as Antxon remembers. The Spaniard was born in the Canary island Lanzarote, where he still lives.
Jules Denel
There is no doubt that Jules Denel is one of the upcoming big talents in the windsurf sport. It’s only lately that he became the French under-20 champion, and Jules is very motivated to establish durability at a high standard. His proposal for the future is to devote himself to his passion for windsurfing.
Jose “Gollito” Estredo
Jose Gregorio Estredo was born on the Venezuelan Isla Margarita. He got in touch with windsurfing early on and was always very ambitious. “I saw some guys, like my brother, on the water in El Yaque, and wanted to do the same, just better.” And he did – Gollito, as his friends call him, is meanwhile the four-time Freestyle World Champion, and also aims for a title in the wave dicipline.
Kenneth Danielsen
Kenneth Danielsen started windsurfing when he was 12 years old. He moved to Klitmøller at the age of 19, so he was able to spend as much time as possible on windsurfing. During the winter Kenneth normally moves to Cape Town, where he has the opportunity to train under South African conditions.
Eleazar Alonso Sanchez
Eleazar Alsonso started windsurfing when he was 12 years old. Like his older brother, Jonas Ceballos, he was taught by his father in Las Palmas. Eleazar tries to practice as often as he can and he is in the water whenever there is wind, regardless of the conditions.
Antoine Albeau
Antoine Albeau is one of the most successful French windsurfers ever. He started with the sport in an early age of 5 and guided by his father, became one of the best windsurfers in the world. Antoine is 10-time champion of France, and has also gained many international titles, but he still doesn’t give a thought to retiring.
Yann Sorlut
Yann Sorlut is an all-around windsurfer who concentrates on the discipline of wave. He currently lives in the famous wave spot of Carro, South of France. Beside his profession as a windsurfer, Yann is a big fan of music and plays both piano and guitar.
Kai Lenny
Kai Lenny has windsurfed since he was 6 years old. He was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii, where he had the best conditions for training for a career as a professional windsurfer. At the age of 17 he has already won some big titles and is seen as a huge talent on the windsurf scene. His primary goal is to become World Champion one day.
Jamie Hancock
Jamie Hancock was introduced to windsurfing by his dad. Soon the local beaches in England became insufficient for the ambitious young talent, and he started to spend his holidays in Hawaii to improve his level. Today, Jamie travels a lot to several windsurf locations all around the world and enjoys living his dream.
Boujmaa Gouilloul
Boujmaa Guilloul was born and raised in Essaouira, Morocco. Since he was a young boy, he had a strong passion for the ocean, and it was no wonder that he started windsurfing one day. When Boujmaa remembers his beginning, he always mentions that “from that point in time I was hooked for life.” At the age of 25, he is one of the world’s best riders and known for his fearless style.
Andreas Olandersson
Andreas Olandersson started windsurfing when he was 12 years old. The 2006 Swedish champion spends a lot of his training time in South Africa. Andreas is known as very ambitious and he always tries to go to the limit. Besides windsurfing, he has a passion for motocross.
Florian Jung
Since he was a young boy, Florian Jung had a huge passion for all kind of sports. He tried karate, aikido, hockey, ice hockey, tennis and soccer before he discovered windsurfing as his calling. Florian travels a lot, always in quest of new windsurf spots and with the aim of improving his skills.
Camille Juban
Camille Juban started windsurfing at the age of 7 at his home in Guadeloupe, France. For this student, windsurfing is not only a hobby but also a possibility to feel free. That’s the reason he chose a career as a professional. After finishing his studies, he plans a trip to Hawaii to improve himself further.
Phil Horrocks
Phil Horrocks was a delighted rugby player and had a passion for all kind of ball sports till he started windsurfing. When he was 18 he began working at the national waters ports center in Wales, and from that point on he was on the water every day, teaching others and training for himself. Even today, he tries to spend as much time as possible on the water and to windsurf as much as he can.
Leon Jamaer
Leon Jamaer started windsurfing at about 7 years of age. In the beginning, he often went to spots around his hometown Kiel, but soon Leon wanted to meet new challenges and so he traveled a lot through many countries, always in quest of the perfect spot. For Leon, riding waves gives him “a kind of feeling of freedom and recreation.”
Francisco Casas Garcia
Francisco Casas Garcia started windsurfing at the age of 10, but just for fun. 3 years later he started to compete in Formula Windsurfing and became Spanish Champion. At an age of 16 he began to sail in the disciplines waves and slalom. Francisco’s debut in the PWA was 2009 in Sylt.
Everon Tonky Frans
Tonky Frans started windsurfing at the age of 11, and after only two years of training, he has reached the level to participate in several competitions. He is very ambitious and all the time is working on some new tricks. One of Tonky’s goals is to develop his own unique move, and so he spends most time on the water “working hard to be the best.”
Wouth Burman
Wouth Burman started windsurfing when he was a young boy. As soon as he finished his university studies he decided to train so much that he could launch a career as a professional. For this dream, he traveled a lot around the world to improve his skills under all kinds of conditions and to develop his own style.
Martin Ten Hoeve
The Dutch windsurfer Martin ten Hoeve, with a height of 2.05 m (6′ 8″), is one of the tallest sailors in the PWA tour. He started windsurfing in Egmond Aan Zee, Netherlands, with a group of his friends. Martin always keeps on pushing himself to the limit according to his slogan “Where there’s a will, there’s a way!”
Peter Volwater
Peter Volwalter was born near Amsterdam in the Netherlands and started windsurfing in the late 1980s. With the full support of his family and his iron will, he reached such a high level that he could start a professional windsurf career in 1996. On the windsurf scene, Peter is well known for his excellence in extreme conditions.
Tuomo Naalisvaara
Tuomo Naalisvaara started windsurfing at the age of 11 with the outdated equipment of his father. It soon turned out that he was totally hooked on this sport, and he not only got new equipment, but also support for becoming a professional. Since 2005, Tuomo has studied medicine at the University of Oulu, Finland.
Lars Gobisch
Besides his career as windsurfer, Lars Gobisch is father of two children and an assistant medical director for spinal surgery. This German has windsurfed since the 1980s and could gain several big titles. Although windsurfing is not Lars’ full-time profession, he is always prepared to cause surprises.
Kevin Mevissen
Kevin Mevissen learned how to windsurf when he was 6 years old. For his career as a professional windsurfer, he dropped out of school and travels around as much as he can to gain experience. Kevin is not just a big freestyle talent, but also has a passion for wave riding.
Timo Mullen
Timo Mullen started windsurfing in an early age. “My father was the first windsurfer in Ireland – he taught me and my brother when we were five or six.” Timo specialises in freestyle windsurfing. For his extraordinary tricks, he gets inspired by watching extreme sports, especially freestyle motocross.
Lars Petersen
Lars Petersen started windsurfing at the age of 12, when a friend called him and asked if he wanted to try it. From that moment on, he knew that windsurfing was his calling. Meanwhile, Lars is also involved in producing films on windsurfing and is today the owner of the production company Free Your Mind.
Mads Bjørnå
Mads Bjørnå grew up in a suburb of Copenhagen and moved to Klitmøller ten years ago because of the good windsurfing conditions here. He started to windsurf when he was about 15 years old because, he said, “It looked super cool, I had to try it.” Also, at the age of 35, Mads constantly pursues to learn new stuff.
Allan Bech
Allan Bech started windsurfing in 1995. As a teenager, he was dedicated to the skater scene, but when he tried some new sports at Lazanta, he discovered his passion for windsurfing. Allan generally spends his winter months in the south where he can train the whole time to improve his skills.
Mikkel Asmussen
Mikkel’s first time on a windsurf-board was in 1981 and now windsurfing is the most important thing in his life. It is through this sport he has found his best friends and gotten the best experiences. He cannot imagine a life without windsurfing and hopes to be able to keep on surfing, maintaining his current
level, for years to come.
Jonas Bødker
Jonas started windsurfing in 2003 and from that moment he was stoked. It all began on the Danish island Fyn, but there were just no waves! So Jonas started to travel, first Gran Canaries and later South Africa. He has evolved a lot during his windsurfing trips and therefore he now feels confident to participate in different competitions. His future goal is to spend as many hours as possible on the water, getting good results and joining in on more PWA events.
Jens Munk Pedersen
Growing up in Klitmøller watching surfers playing around in the waves with an expression of stoke on their faces triggered Jens’ curiosity. By the age of 10, Jens decided to pick up windsurfing and the last 3½ years Jens has dedicated his life to windsurfing. Working in his hometown of Klimøller during the summer makes it possible for him to get on the water as much as possible. The money is saved up for travels to windy locations during the Danish winter, enabling him to steadily raise his level of sailing to where it is today.
